Fall is here and we hope you all had a great start into the new season!
August 1st celebration in Atlanta
Our August celebration was a success and was attended by over 70 members and guest at a more central location this year. I have to extend big thanks to all volunteers, not just our board members, but also our club members. I think a special THANK YOU needs to go to Family Brack to have all the kids involved in some games on the playground after the rain passed. I am sure the kids will be looking forward to such fun time again come August 2009! It was very much appreciated by the parents!
August 1st celebration in Tennessee
Your board tried to invite members to attend the Swiss Grüetli Laager in Tennessee, but in the end it looked like everybody was busy and only Jean-Pierre from the Swiss consulate made it. As reported from Jean-Pierre the event is always a great success and if anyone ever feels like taking a day trip it sure is worth it.
New!!! Swiss German Moms & Kids Meeting
Beatrice Carlson has started a new group in October. On October 18th a starter group met with their children (baby to 3.5y) at her house. The children played and the Moms chatted in Swissgerman while enjoying the children exploring other children and toys. We exchanged experiences, ideas and enjoyed a late breakfast/snack. Beatrice read a story to everybody and we all sang some Swiss children songs. Beatrice deserves a big THANKS for being our first host and getting this group started. Upcoming events
Samichlaus Saturday Dec 6th 2008 6pm
It is that time of year again and this year Samichlaus is on its way again to visit our children of all ages (Invitation enclosed). He will be in town a bit later than usual, but prior to the visit you might want to visit our booth at the Atlanta International School for a Raclette. Also, after Samichlaus leaves we will be having a “Chlaus Hoeck” for everybody who would like to sit and enjoy a cozy time at Garden Hills. (Info also enclosed).

As for many years the SAS has offered a good Raclette at the Christmas Market of the International School of Atlanta. Again, this year we will be there to serve this great dish! We look forward to see you there prior to the Samichlaus/Chlaus Hoeck!
Christmas Dinner Sunday Dec 14th 2008

Board / Volunteers
Your board of directors is in need of interested members to step into a position next year for the board. We are especially looking for a new Treasurer since Markus Engel will leave us at the end of this club year. He will be greatly missed. If you feel like you are interested in the treasurer function or any other role please contact Tanja or Rene.
The board is also in need of some volunteers to assist with our Raclette booth this year. We are a bit short in staff due to personal obligations/Samichlaus preparation of some of our board members. If you feel like assisting for a couple of hours while you visit the event please contact Markus to get more detailed info. We are really appreciating anyone offering even just a little while to be a part to serve some great food!
Again, I would like to express my gratitude again to all board members, many volunteers, and our vendors and sponsor to make our events a success.
