SAS Update September 2005

Dear SAS Members

39 members, guests and children came to the Picnic on the Lake on Labor Day Sunday. The Picnic area in Mary Alice Park is really a great place for such a gathering, the weather was perfect, and young and old had a good time. Don’t worry if you missed this opportunity to meet old friends and make new ones, there is a lot more lined up for you!

Upcoming events

  • With this Update you receive the invitation to our the “Serata Ticinese”, an evening full of culinary delicacies, trivia about the Italian part of Switzerland, door prizes – in other words great fun! We are aware that this is one of our more costly events, but it will be worth every penny.
  • You get the unique opportunity to attend the Opening of the International Summit on “Effecting Social Change through Women’s Leadership in Sport” and the following reception at Kennesaw State University on October 20. Former President of Switzerland Mr. Adolf Ogi will deliver the keynote speech in his role as Special Advisor to the Secretary General of the United Nations. The event is free, but you need to RSVP – see invitation.
  • After a long summer the Ladies’ Luncheons group is going places again – interested? call Helen for more information!
  • It is hard to believe, but in just ten weeks we start into the Holiday season. Once again the Swiss Club will be part of the “Festival of Trees”, the big fundraiser for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in early December, by setting up a Swiss-style Christmas Tree. If you would like to volunteer your time (and ideas!) for this worthy cause please contact Helen for more details.

New Members

Please welcome the following new members to our Club:

  • Ulrich and Michelle Brechtbuehl with their children Hansueli, Jacob and Primin, Atlanta
The family has recently moved to the area from Texas.
  • Mueguette and Franz Wollsperger, Atlanta
Muguette and Franz have rejoined the Club after a break of several years.
  • Gracia and Witold Zabinski-Wollsperger with their sons Mieczlaw, Lukasz and Greory and daughter Justyna, Atlanta

We are glad you became part of our Club and we hope to see you soon at one of our next events!!

With these new additions our list has grown to 54 family memberships and 16 individual memberships, resulting in 120 adults and 58 kids.

Bits and Pieces

  • Yolanda Wallace serves as our Club’s historian and keeps the memories alive in thick scrap books. She is also working on a digital version and has put all the available pictures from past events on a specially designed web site. You can go to www.picksey.com and try to find yourself on a snap shot! Thank you so much, Yolanda, for all the efforts and hours you put into this! (We will eventually figure out how to also put a link on the Club’s web site, www.sasatlanta.org.)
  • Interested in learning to play the Schwyzeroergeli? Nino Jaeger from a music school in Chur/CH offers private live lessons over the internet – don’t ask me how that works!?!
You can find out more about it by contacting Nino at ninojaeger@highspeed.ch. Who knows, you might become our entertainer at the Fondue Night!

Step forward and join us!
With Board Members relocating due to new job assignments we need new people in our crew. Remember, this is your Club, and it can only function as long as we have members willing to fill the positions on the Board. By the way, joining the Board is not only a great way to get involved with the Club and its members but also to work and have fun with good friends who are very supportive.
So if you can picture yourself serving the Club in a rewarding way please contact me or any Member of the Board – thank you for considering it!

For the SAS Board

Helen Freiermuth, President
