Dear members and friends of the SAS of Atlanta,
On behalf of your board I would like to send a few lines to you to keep you updated and informed what has been happening over the past couple of months.
Spring event
Our event this year was a bit different and involved some volunteer work. We gathered together as a group to drive up to Cleveland GA and lend our hands to Shepherd’s Refuge. On May 3rd nine members and board members went up to North Georgia and created a natural fence, widened a trail after lots of sweat digging up tree roots and pruning. While the rain did not stay completely away it gave them all a moment to enjoy a Bratwurst and Cervelat from Wienerz. Our hosts Ruedi and Sandy offered Swiss-chocolate-brownies and cake for a treat afterwards.
While we understand it was something different and not our regular spring picnic or hike we hope that we can offer our help some day in the future again to them.
Thanks to everybody for coming out and doing some much appreciated work at Shepherd’s Refuge.

MIKULCIK, Berti MRS. BERTI MIKULCIK Mrs. Berti Mikulcik, 62, of Peachtree City died June 11, 2008. She was born in Grindelwald, Switzerland. She was retired from Delta Airlines after many years of service. Mrs. Mikulcik was a founding member of the Swiss-Amercian Society of Atlanta and an active member of the Fayetteville Garden Club. She was an avid skier, hiker and mountain climber. She loved classical music, gardening, reading and was an excellent cook. She had a beloved pet schnauzer, Elsie. She was a wonderful friend and mother to us all. She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Mikulcik; sons, Michael Raymond Allen and fiancé Tara Washington of Rex; Richard Odell Allen and wife Lisa of Buford; one daughter, Elizabeth Maria Mikulcik and fiancé Barry O'Connell of New York, New York; one brother, Andre Kissling; three sisters, Theres Greub, Marie-Louise Steiger and Madeleine Spinatsch all of Switzerland.
We the board understand that many of you were not able to attend the service or did not receive the sad news in time, so on behalf of all our members of the SAS we ordered a red/white flower wreath with a banner in memory of Berti and signed a card for Ed on behalf of all members.
Our thoughts are with Ed and his family!
